A thoughtful wedding dress choice involves more than one question. Here we explore environmental responsibility, our native Irish tree-planting commitment, and why sustainability is different from being vegan.
For many brides, the question of sustainability has become an important part of choosing their wedding dress. Not because it is fashionable — but because it matters to them, genuinely and personally. If that sounds like you, we want you to know: you have come to the right place.
For every gown we make, we plant a native Irish tree through our Forest of Love initiative. It is a practical expression of our connection to nature, alongside our separate commitment to animal-free wedding dresses.
Vegan and Sustainable Are Different Questions
Vegan describes the absence of animal-derived materials. Sustainability considers wider environmental impacts, including how materials are produced, resources are used and a garment is cared for over time. One does not automatically prove the other.
Our gowns are vegan, but that is not a claim that their production has no environmental impact. Making fabrics, creating a dress and transporting materials all use resources.
For brides comparing options, useful questions include what a gown is made from, how it is made and what information a designer can provide about their environmental practices. Specific answers are more useful than broad promises.

Thinking Beyond the Wedding Day
Each gown is designed by Edwina and made to your measurements. Choosing a dress you feel comfortable in, and having any final alterations completed by your own seamstress, helps you prepare it for your wedding day.
A wedding dress can also have a life beyond one day. Keeping it carefully, passing it on or exploring alterations for another occasion are personal choices worth considering. Ask for care guidance suitable for your particular gown.
The Forest of Love
For every gown we make, we plant a native Irish tree. The Forest of Love connects the celebration of a marriage with a contribution to Ireland’s natural landscape.
Trees can support wildlife and store carbon as they grow. We value tree planting as a long-term contribution to nature, rather than describing a gown as impact-free or claiming that planting a tree automatically cancels all the emissions involved in making it.
Clear Commitments, Not Absolute Claims
Sustainability is an ongoing responsibility, not a promise that a product has no footprint. We want to describe the steps we take clearly, and distinguish our confirmed tree-planting commitment from any claim that would need a measured carbon assessment.
Why This Has Always Been Who We Are
We are a family-run studio on the west coast of Ireland. The landscape we live in — the Burren, the Atlantic, the ancient fields and stone walls of Clare — shapes everything Edwina designs. It would feel deeply wrong to draw daily inspiration from the natural world and then disregard it in how we work.
Our concern for the natural world sits alongside our commitment to animal welfare. They are connected values, but each deserves its own clear explanation.
