Your Wedding Dress Can Be Beautiful and Kind

What it means to choose a wedding dress that harms no one — and why, at Edwina O'Gorman Bridal, that has always been the only way we work.

For many brides, the question of sustainability has become an important part of choosing their wedding dress. Not because it is fashionable — but because it matters to them, genuinely and personally. If that sounds like you, we want you to know: you have come to the right place.

At Edwina O'Gorman Bridal, we have been making 100% vegan, cruelty-free wedding gowns since the very beginning. It was never a response to a trend. It is simply who we are.

What 100% Vegan Actually Means

It means no animal-derived materials. Ever. Not occasionally, not with exceptions, not unless a bride requests it. Never.

No silk. Silk is produced through a process that harms silkworms and has no place in our studio. We use beautiful alternatives that are indistinguishable in their drape, their sheen, and their feel — and in many cases, we think they are more beautiful.

No leather, no fur, no feathers, no down. Not in trims, not in accessories, not in any element of any gown we make. The materials we use are chosen entirely on the basis of their beauty and their ethics — and we have never once felt the need to compromise.

When a bride wears an Edwina O'Gorman gown, she can be completely certain that nothing — not a single thread — came at the cost of an animal's life or suffering. That matters to us enormously. It matters to many of our brides equally.

The Fabrics We Choose

Our gowns are made from carefully selected fabrics that are luxurious, beautiful, and entirely animal-free. The result — as our brides tell us consistently — is a dress that is extraordinarily comfortable. This is something that surprises many brides who expect comfort and couture to be in tension. They are not. Our gowns move with you, breathe with you, and never give you a moment's discomfort on the most important day of your life.

The fabrics Edwina selects, and the way her designs are constructed, are the reason so many of our brides tell us that nothing they tried — including gowns from some of the world's most celebrated bridal designers — came close in terms of how they felt to wear.

The Forest of Love

Every Edwina O'Gorman gown purchased results in a native Irish tree being planted in the bride's honour. Oak, ash, birch, hazel, rowan — trees that once covered this island in ancient woodland and are slowly, carefully being returned to it.

Your tree will be growing long after your wedding day has become a cherished memory. It will shelter wildlife, clean the air, and stand as a living symbol of the love that was celebrated on your day. We think that is a genuinely beautiful thing — and it costs you nothing beyond choosing your dress.

Our Packaging

We take care of the details too. Your gown arrives in recycled or reused packaging. Our ribbons are made from recycled materials. Our printed materials use FSC-approved paper and vegetable-based inks. Small things — but they reflect a genuine commitment that runs through everything we do.

Why This Has Always Been Who We Are

We are a family-run studio on the west coast of Ireland. The landscape we live in — the Burren, the Atlantic, the ancient fields and stone walls of Clare — shapes everything Edwina designs. It would feel deeply wrong to draw daily inspiration from the natural world and then disregard it in how we work.

We also believe that animals — all of them — are worthy of our care and protection. That is not something we say because it sounds good. It is something we have always believed and always acted on.

If it matters to you too, we would love to meet you.
