For an Edwina O’Gorman gown, allow a minimum of around eight to nine months from ordering to your wedding: approximately six months for your dress to be made, followed by two to three months for alterations and fittings with your own seamstress. If your wedding is sooner, contact us to discuss what may be possible.
Start with a little research - you don’t need to have your whole bridal look decided. Save a few dresses that catch your eye, think about a budget you feel comfortable with, and consider your wedding date. Look for a designer whose work feels like you. At Edwina O’Gorman, you can explore the dresses online before requesting a private appointment with Edwina at our Dublin showroom.
Your appointment is time to discover what you love, with Edwina guiding you through her designs. You’ll have approximately 90 minutes to try on dresses, explore different custom options and ask any questions you may have. There’s no need to arrive knowing exactly what you want. Our Dublin showroom welcomes brides on Saturdays, by confirmed appointment only.
You don’t need to know before you arrive—that is part of what trying on dresses is for. A neckline, fabric or silhouette can feel quite different on you than it looks in a photograph. Edwina can help guide you through her designs.
Think about how you want to feel as well as how you want to look. Perhaps you love simplicity, a little sparkle, a beautiful sleeve or something unexpected at the back. As you try dresses, notice which details you keep returning to and how comfortable you feel moving in them. At the end of the day, when you know, you know.
You’re welcome to tell us before your appointment if there is anything you’re worried about. Whether that is sizing, not knowing what you like or simply being the centre of attention, sharing your concerns helps us understand what matters to you. Your appointment is private, and you can bring along up to three guests whose opinions you value.
There is no number you need to reach. Trying a few different shapes will quickly help you understand your preferences, but you don’t have to keep searching simply because you found a dress you love early on. Focus on what you like about each gown, how it feels to wear and whether it fits your budget and wedding plans.
It doesn’t have to be a dramatic moment. You might feel excited, quietly confident or simply more yourself. You will notice how you feel wearing it and how it differs from anything else you have tried. Other people’s reactions can be lovely, but your own feelings deserve the most attention.
Think about what draws you to each dress: its shape, its details, its comfort or the way you feel wearing it. Edwina can help you compare those differences. If you really feel that you need a second appointment to decide, the €50 second-appointment fee is fully redeemable against the purchase of your dress.
Yes, most likely. Having your gown made to your measurements does not remove the need for fittings and final adjustments. Allow time for your own seamstress to assess the fit and hem with your wedding shoes and underwear. Alterations are separate from the dress price, and we do not provide an in-house alterations service.
